Lesson 4 - Blossoming Together

SUMMARY OF THE LESSON

In Lesson 4 we will paint a 40x30” canvas in portrait orientation. We will begin by loosely planning our composition. Then we will paint flowers in layers using brushes and a large trowel to create dimension in the petals.

LESSON OBJECTIVES

  • Creating large textured flowers using a trowel or palette knife.
  • Painting in layers, knowing when to paint wet in wet and when to stop and let things dry.
  • Painting dark to light to create values and interest in white flowers
  • Using a sponge to create light layers and a misty effect
  • Keeping things light, loose and fun!
